Functional Human Tissue Assays

Ex vivo pharmacology in numerous human tissues utilising a range of methods including organ baths, small vessel wire myography and perfusion myography.

With frequent access to a wide range of fresh human tissues Biopta provides information on; potency & efficacy, onset and duration of action and potential adverse effects.

Inflammation Models

Biopta has unique expertise with intact fresh human tissue culture models that detect pro- or anti-inflammatory effects of test compounds in human skin, lung or colon.

A range of inflammatory mediators can be assayed in plate format using fresh tissues ethically donated from patients with conditions such as COPD and IBD.

Absorption & Permeability Models

Biopta offers absorption and permeability testing in human mucosal barriers such as the gut and lung and can measure vascular permeability/leakage in intact blood vessels using its proprietary PM-1 instrument.

Drug absorption (permeability) is accurately predicted using intact human small intestine or lung epithelium.

Ex vivo tissue assays in human coronary and resistance arteries and human ventricular muscle, alongside ICH S7B recommended humanised electrophysiology to assess QT prolongation (hERG channel inhibition in HEK-293 cells).
