Vascular tissue can be secured from both healthy patients and patients with a range of diseases including diabetes, hypertension and atherosclerosis.

Your test compounds can be assessed for efficacy on arteries and veins of various sizes; effects of blood pressure treatments can be assessed in resistance arteries; vasoconstriction and vasodilatation can be assessed in coronary and muscular arteries.

Human coronary arteries show robust contractile responses to 5-HT after 24 and 48 culture periods. The location of the concentration/effect curve is consistent with historical data from Biopta’s uncultured vessels and now provides us with a protocol to explore the longer term effects of drug treatment on vasoactive pathways; invaluable for exploring both efficacy and safety mechanisms.
